The Book Mark

My Google UX Design Certification project –
The bookmark is an online Market place where users can register to sell their old books or browse through other users selection to buy used books.

This UX design project was created as part of my Google Certification project with Coursera https://www.coursera.org/professional-certificates/google-ux-design

The initial prompt from the UX Design program was to design an application and complimenting website where parents could buy and sell used children clothing.

The initial assignment resonated with me but their was a lot of logistics and additional problems to consider. Ranging from children’s sizes and possible returns to hygiene requirements. I also spoke to several parents and it soon became clear that people were willing to donate clothing rather than sell is as they believed used clothing were not a resellible product. Pivoting from children’s clothing to used books was a simple decision.

The Bookmark sprang from a need to find a new home for a large amount of my old used books and it quickly became clear that there are so many people who would buy and sell used books. In the modern age we have access to endless streams of short reels and AI generated reels but printed, curated books are becoming rarer and rarer.

The idea was simply to have a page or app where people can buy and sell used books, once I started interviewing friends and acquaintances I noticed that there would be a lot more reasons why people would need to buy and sell used books.

Some users would want to use the application as a way to generate a secondary income, some would use it to get rid of pre-loved books th
